Energy and Natural Resources

As International Counsel for Litton Industries, Inc, Wolf had legal responsibility for its energy exploration arm, Western Atlas (later sold to Baker Hughes and Schlumberger). In that role, he was involved in several disputes related to energy exploration and transit, which went to arbitration, a number ultimately being resolved through mediation. Wolf played an active role in the international operations of the Company and is therefore very familiar with upstream oil and gas operations. This has led to an interest in the management and resolution of energy disputes, both in arbitration and mediation.

Wolf has for the past five years worked closely with the Energy Charter Treaty Secretariat to assist in the development of mediation in energy related disputes. He was instrumental in drafting the ECT Mediation Guide and Model Instrument on the Management of Investment Disputes. He has also lectured on management of energy disputes to ECT Member States and continues to train mediators for such disputes.

Wolf sits on the ECT roster of conciliators for transit disputes, which is responsible for the resolution of energy transit disputes between Member States and is a member of the CEDR Renewable Energy Arbitration Panel.
