Jordi accepts appointments as tribunal secretary. He was until recently an associate counsel at the Secretariat of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). During his time at the SIAC Secretariat, Jordi oversaw the administration of international arbitrations under the SIAC and UNCITRAL Rules in a broad range of industries, including energy, construction, finance, M&A, technology, and shipping. In his role as associate counsel, Jordi assisted the Registrar, the SIAC Court, and its President in making appointments of arbitrators and emergency arbitrators, determining applications for consolidation, expedited procedure, joinder, pre-constitution jurisdictional objections, and arbitrator challenges. He was also a member of the Secretariat’s Rules Revision Committee responsible for drafting (in conjunction with the SIAC Court) the SIAC Rules 2021
Before joining the SIAC Secretariat, Jordi had been an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York City and Madrid, Spain, where he advised Fortune 500 companies and leading investment banks on matters of U.S. law. Jordi also completed a judicial clerkship with Judge Stephen R. Reinhardt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Los Angeles, California. As a law clerk for Judge Reinhardt, Jordi drafted bench memoranda and prepared first drafts of court opinions in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters.
Jordi earned a Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. During his time in law school, Jordi completed an internship with Judge Peter J. Messitte of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He also published articles in the Georgetown Journal of International Law and the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal.
Before attending law school, Jordi was a research economist at the Development Economics Research Group of the World Bank in Washington, D.C. He was also a regular op-ed contributor for two Spanish online newspapers (Factual.es and NacioDigital.cat). He graduated from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain, with a degree in economics.
Jordi is admitted to practice in New York. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Catalan. He has a working knowledge of French and is able to read Portuguese.
Jordi is a citizen of Spain.
